This year, I was invited to catch a Kidane Mihret Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Church celebration. The event was filled with respect and joy! I saw the procession of the tabot (a replica of the Ark of the Covenant), which is a uncommon thing that only occurs on special days. It's impossible to miss the amazing atmosphere when this happens. Can't wait for the next one.
This colourful event happens yearly and includes an ancient liturgical service, music and feasting. Kidane Mihret is a Ge'ez (Ethiopian language) phrase that means "Covenant of Mercy". This event celebrates God's promise to St. Mary, It was a great time to view a culture that many know little about.
